Le Clivie 'Annibale' Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
A warm, nicely structured red, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Annibale Le Clivie originates in the province of Chieti, between the massif of the Maiella and the Adriatic Sea. The climate, calcareous clay soil and meticulous vinification give a warm, complex wine with a distinctive yet harmonious tannic texture. The bold character of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Annibale reflects its history. According to legend, Hannibal offered cups of Montepulciano to soldiers to boost their spirits.
Pairing
Le Clivie Montepulciano Annibale is ideal with fresh pasta dishes served with meat sauces. Excellent with lamb skewers, lamb chops and mixed grills. Surprising in combination with meats marinate in Korean-style marinated meats, lamb curry, duck in orange sauce. Excellent with medium mature cheeses.
Tasting notes
To fully appreciate the qualities of the wine, it is best drunk within 36 months. Aroma of ripe red fruit with delicate hints of spice. Warm and smooth with a long aftertaste. Sumptuous and velvety, it is characterised by the unmistakable scents of the Mediterranean maquis and mineral nuances.
