Sausage and beans

Bud Spencer beans are the famous beans served by Terence Hill in the movie "They Call Him Trinity". They are a very tasty soup and above all I also recommend you to use them to fill pizza: they are exceptional! Also called Fagioli alla Bud or Fagioli alla Trinità, this delicious variant of Fagioli all'Uccelletto has gone down in the history of Italian cinema thanks to an epic scene from the much-loved western film where Terence Hill eats an entire pan of beans with incredible taste in just a few minutes! It is rumored that Terence Hill, to make the scene as truthful as possible, had been fasting for 24 hours. True or not, the fact is that this dish has changed both the history of Italian cinema and that of our culinary tradition. In fact, with this scene, in 1970, the definition fagioli-western was born, an Italian strand of the then in vogue spaghetti-western movies.

But where did the idea for this recipe come from? Surely the inspiration comes from Tex-Mex cuisine, replicated in an Italian version using only local ingredients! A truly exquisite dish! And to accompany these tasty Terence Hill Beans (as in the mythical scene of the film) you definitely have to prepare a fantastic and fragrant Rustic Bread in a Pot; it will be a really winning combination!

Ingredients

500 g beans
Salt
Pepper (or chili pepper)
Extra virgin olive oil
1Sausage
200 g Tomato puree
Half an onion
Half a glass Dry white wine
1 clove Garlic

Preparation

In a saucepan, cook the beans until tender. Drain. In a saucepan, put the oil and the crumbled or chopped sausage without skin. Then add the garlic clove, onion and sauté everything. When the sausage is cooked, add the white wine and then add the beans, tomato puree and mix everything. Let it cook. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with slices of homemade bread and a good glass of red wine.

Note
If you like a creamier texture, mash some beans with a fork, in order to give creaminess to the beans.
