The vineyards which produce the grapes for the Brolio label are planted in five geological areas at an elevation between 853 feet and 1,640 feet and with different exposures. Vineyard soils vary greatly but all are strewn with stony fragments adding mineral richness. This is characteristic of the structure of the Chianti Classico vintage.
Baron Francesco Ricasoli is the 32nd generation family member to live on these Tuscan lands, and caretake the ancient Brolio castle. Francesco is carrying on the dream and on with the vision that his ancestor first began 875 years ago. This Chianti Classico is off various parts of the estate's sandstone, galestro, alberese, clay and silt soils. It was fermented in stainless before 9 months in tonneaux.
Brolio combines the great drinkability typical of young Chianti Classico with a complex and full structure. With an intense ruby red color, it opens to the nose with fresh and floral scents including notes of chinotto, violet and mimosa, which evolve into fruity nuances of black cherry and aromas of sweet mint. In the mouth it is fresh and pleasant, with fine tannins and a pleasant aftertaste of ripe red fruits and spices. Overall it is a very elegant wine.
Perfect to accompany cold cuts and pasta dishes with meat sauce, it is ideal in combination with grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
