Campari Spritz🍊🍹

A popular cousin to the Aperol Spritz, the Campari Spritz uses another delicious Italian botanical bitter called, you guessed it, Campari. The flavours of Campari are much stronger than Aperol with intense flavours of orange peel, rhubarb, sweet spices of cinnamon and cloves and a very distinct herbal bitterness.

Campari is bright red in colour and is typically consumed as an aperitif with two parts soda water, one part Campari, ice and an orange slice. It is also a key ingredient in a Negroni cocktail or Negroni Sbagliato (see my September 17 post for the recipe). It can also be enjoyed as a shot or splashed over ice.

Turning Campari into a spritz makes it more refreshing and a great pre-dinner cocktail!🍹

Ingredients

2 oz Campari
1 oz soda water
3 oz Prosecco or other sparkling fruity wine
Orange slice

Directions

Fill a large stemmed wine glass with ice. Stir in two ounces of Campari and add the sparkling wine and soda water. Garnish with an orange slice.

Salute, The wine critic🍾
