Pizza is happiness 😍😋
What gives happiness? How can we truly achieve that mixed state of serenity and joy so longed for? It is one of the questions of humanity, one of the great questions of the life of each of us, whose answers are not necessarily territory of philosophy, but can also be much more earthly. There are many small moments and little tricks that can make us feel better: buying a new dress, listening to music, dancing. Or, perhaps more than anything, eating. Sitting at the table, eating our favorite food alone or in company, savoring every bite is one of the most satisfying things ever. And on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness 2019, a survey was carried out on all those foods and recipes that most of all make us smile. And on the top step of the podium among the foods of the heart, the: pizza.
This data, which perhaps knowing the habits of Italians could actually already be understood, is particularly interesting if inserted in the entire context of the Doxa / Deliveroo survey, in which the company that deals with home deliveries, active for some years in Italy, wanted to evaluate the choices of a very large sample of Italians. Given the topic, Italian citizens aged 15 and over were interviewed, expanding the spectrum of the survey also to the millennial group. That most of all have contributed to winning the gold medal of food of happiness to marinate, daisies, fried pizzas & Co. If pizza has been chosen, in fact, by one in two Italians, and for 51% by the citizens of the South and the Islands, it is in the age group that reaches 34 years - the millennials - that preferences rise to 60%. Second are women, with a percentage of 47%. Choice on which affects - and here the lovers of the round will have a thrill - the possibility of choosing it frozen. According to the Italian Institute of Frozen Food, in fact, this apparently unpopular choice is made by over 60% of Italian families and the margherita is by far the most chosen by women.
And if passing a slice of pizza, stealing a bit of cornice from that of the neighbor, or looking smiling at your capricious just arrived at the table, is considered the highest moment of happiness achievable at the table, the silver medal goes to pasta, chosen by 33% of Italians, grills win third place, with 30% of preferences, far removed from the fourth, where ice cream stops at only 10% of the total. And if ice cream & co. cones are perhaps the most obvious choice of the very young, grilled meat have won almost 50% of the choices if we consider the range of respondents ranging from 35 to 44 years and those of fish are loved by a more adult audience, which touches and exceeds 50 years. The most chosen food, instead, by the over 65s? Pasta, with almost 40% of preferences.
Choices and data that are understandable and fit perfectly into what are the contours and habits of our society, if we think of the close connection between food and conviviality and therefore the further one between happiness and moments in which we can be with our loved ones. According to data collected by Doxa, in fact, less than 5% of the population declares itself happy at the table alone an eventuality reported among the saddest and most depressing. The maximum happiness is being at the table face to face with our partner (choice of one respondent out of 3), with their parents (according to 43% of Italians) and with their friends, to the sound of laughter and chatter (according to 37% of respondents). Without forgetting grandparents, loved and chosen by 10% of the population in a transversal way, without borders and distinctions of sex or age. Because, on the Day of Happiness and on each of the other 365 days, food only makes us happy if we share it with those we love.
