WINE DESCRIPTION
“A perfect score for this coveted cult masterpiece...”
Near one of Napa Valley’s most structurally stunning winery buildings (and that’s saying something, considering that region’s penchant for gorgeous structures!) lies a gorgeous, single-block vineyard in Rutherford, with vines carefully planted on terraces surrounding a lake. This is the origin of Quintessa, now one of the most iconic reds from one of the U.S.A.’s most iconic wine regions. Quintessa was founded by 50+ year wine industry veteran Agustin Huneeus, who previously helped Chile's iconic Concha y Toro and California's renowned Franciscan rise to international fame.
The pristine grapes (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with splashes of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, and Petit Verdot) were sourced from a terraced single vineyard in Rutherford surrounding a lake. A gorgeous wine, highly enjoyable now for those that prefer a youthful take or for those with patience of a saint, tuck a few in the cellar for a decade or two.
Tasting notes
The 2019 Quintessa offers nuance, depth, and great persistence. A complex of flower, forest, fruit, and earth notes harmonize with fine-grained tannin and vibrant acidity. It is a wine of precision as well as transparency. The 2019 Quintessa will drink well now for those who prefer a youthful expression but will also last in cellar for at least another twenty years for those who enjoy the complexities of age.
