Chicago style deep dish pizza 🥰😍

The American city, on the occasion of National Pizza Day, let slip on Twitter a statement that has not gone unnoticed here in Italy. Here's what happened. There are things you really can't joke about. For Naples, for example, pizza is one of them, and the city of Chicago should have known this before challenging Neapolitan pride. But let's go in order. On February 9th, in the United States, there is a celebration that in some way has always made all the supporters of Italian cuisine abroad very proud: the National Pizza Day, or an entire day of the stars and stripes calendar entirely dedicated to our wonder based on tomato and mozzarella, now widely spread overseas, sometimes with truly excellent results. And so far so good... Too bad that the city of Chicago, famous for the style of deep dish pizza, wanted to exaggerate. Through its official Twitter profile, in fact, the Illinois metropolis has proclaimed itself, without any hint of modesty, "World Capital of pizza". Open up heaven. Because as soon as the news of the tweet in question on social media arrived on the slopes of Vesuvius, a real virtual brawl was unleashed with Margherita shots and various teases.

"After Napoli my US Friends!" said actor Salvatore Esposito, albeit absolutely diplomatic. While some Neapolitan users have seen fit to remember that it is the "Traditional Art of the Neapolitan pizzaiuolo" to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and not that of the pizza makers of Chicago. Finally, someone else wanted to emphasize the meaning of the expression Chicago in Italian. And oh well, it was predictable. Even the official account of the state of New Jersey, meanwhile, had well thought of replicating the heresy of the countrymen, always proclaiming itself via social world homeland of pizza. In short, it seems that our beloved pizza is the most disputed gastronomic specialty in the West. We Italians, meanwhile, smile, sure of what his true homeland is.
