BAROLO BUSSIA DOCG "COLONNELLO" 2015 - PODERI ALDO CONTERNO
Aldo Conterno's "Colonnello" is an ideal Barolo to accompany roasts, braised meats and medium and long-aged cheeses. Also excellent with land dishes. Among the three crus of Bussia that Poderi Aldo Conterno vinify separately, the one known as "Colonnello" is certainly the easiest to read, the most composed and probably the least austere. A wonderful Barolo di Monforte that matures in large Slavonian oak barrels for 28 months and that stands out for its drinkability in the glass. Elegant, suave, graceful, it is the classic Barolo capable of satisfying even the most demanding palates. A Barolo to fall in love with Barolo.
Poderi di Aldo Conterno is one of those wineries that fully embody the history and winemaking traditions of the Langhe. It was founded by Aldo Conterno in 1969, on his return from a long trip to California, but the Conterno family's winemaking tradition has more remote roots: already during the nineteenth century the progenitor Giuseppe Conterno managed a small winery in Monforte d'Alba and in 1920 the first bottles of Barolo Riserva were bottled. Today the Poderi are managed by Aldo's three sons: Franco, Stefano and Giacomo, who continue the business with all the passion and competence of those who feel invested with an extraordinary legacy.
Poderi Aldo Conterno is a winery that has made the history of the wine world in Italy and continues to do so: for some years now, the Conterno brothers have taken the path of absolute respect for the environment and the protection of the vineyard heritage with deep and deep-rooted conviction. No fertilizers or herbicides are used in the vineyard; Only copper and sulfur are allowed. The production philosophy is aimed at the creation of traditional wines that are very characteristic, not inclined to fashions, compromises and unconditional consents.
The wines of Poderi Aldo Conterno are famous all over the world and considered among the best wine expressions of Piedmont. They often have legendary and well-established names, which take the name of the vineyards from which they are born: Colonnello, Cicala, Romirasco and others. These are robust and textured wines, rich in energy and substance, to be aged for a long time in the cellar, which continue to profoundly mark the world wine scene.
Tasting notesIntense ruby red colour. Expressive nose on aromas of licorice, tobacco, aromatic herbs, small red fruits and spices, with balsamite and ethereal references. The mouthfeel is austere, broad, mineral. It develops progressively, layering sip after sip. The finish is explosive, with notes of violet and leather.
