Greek pita




Pita is a type of leavened flat bread, made with wheat flour and round in shape. Typical of the tradition of the Middle East, the Mediterranean and North Africa, the first thought when you imagine the pita, runs fast towards Greece. The most common way to use the pita is for the pita gyros recipe: similar in concept to the Turkish kebab, it differs in a fundamental characteristic, namely meat. That of pita gyros is marinated and seasoned with spices, aromas and salt. A curiosity: do you know how to say piadina in Romagna dialect? Pida. And the Calabrian flatten, what is it called? Pitta. In short, the pita is famous just everywhere!

The Greek pita is a round and flat bread used to prepare Turkish kebab or Greek gyros, it goes well with sauces such as tzatziki or hummus.

INGREDIENTS

500 g of flour
300 ml of water
15 g of brewer's yeast 
10 g of salt
extra virgin olive oil

PREPARATION

Crumble the brewer's yeast and dissolve it in the water, add the water and knead well, add the salt continuing to work the dough until it is smooth and homogeneous. Let the dough rise for an hour. After this time divide the dough into eight balls and roll them out, let them rise for another 30 minutes, brush them with oil and bake them in the oven at 250 °C for 5 minutes or directly in a pan greased with oil by cooking both sides.
