Italian style hot dogs
Many in or from Montreal, especially the in the little Italy area, are acquainted with this sandwich. It’s fried hot dogs, peppers & onions and potatoes in “pizza bread”. Dough for bread and PIZZA RECIPE homemade easy and ideal if you have decided to make bread, or pizza at home and in the electric oven you have in your kitchen. I love making bread at home because you don't really need as much effort as you might think and then the bread dough can be safely used to make pizza.
Today I will give you the recipe of the dough for bread and pizza and to make it you simply need water, flour, yeast and salt. With this preparation you will simply have a healthy and genuine homemade product, tasty and suitable for the whole family. This recipe is made with the addition of a little semolina to give much more taste to the dough but if you do not have it available you can only use all purpose flour.
It appears in every movie, series or cartoon with stars and stripes: the typical long and narrow sandwich with sausage and various sauces is well known all over the world but, unlike the equally American hamburger, it has never captured our imagination. Yet, with some care, it turns out to be a surprise the real delicatessen. There is no ''festa'' without the traditional and ''light'' sandwich with sausage and peppers. A tradition, too, that for Calabrian Montrealer's can not be disregarded. And here, joke the people of Reggio, "puru cu vindi scarpi prepares you u paninu cu satizzu". The air becomes saturated with smells and scents that invade the city from the first light of dawn. The quality of the ingredients is fundamental but, equally important is knowing how to cook the precious raw material properly.
Ingredients
500 g Flour
100 g semolina flour
400 ml lukewarm water
7 g dry yeast or 10 g brewer's yeast
7 g salt
1 tsp Sugar
How to make dough for bread and pizza
First we take the flours and sift them together by aerating them and eliminating lumps. Let's put them in the bowl of the mixer and start kneading. We also combine the dry yeast powder or the fresh one of beer dissolved in a little water. We continue to add the water flush while we continue to knead. We add salt and sugar. If you do not have semolina flour you can only use all purpose flour. We continue to knead for 5 minutes. Once the dough is ready, let it rise for at least 4 – 6 hours until doubled. When it is ready, put it on the pastry board and give it the shape you prefer. You can form a panel or a single strand. Put the bread thus formed on a baking sheet covered with special paper. We make cuts on the surface and bake at 180 °C for 25 – 30 minutes in a static oven. Once ready, bake it and let it cool, then cut it into slices. With the same dough you can also make pizza in a pan by spreading it in an oiled baking pan and seasoning it with tomato puree, bake for 25 minutes at 180 °C and then add the mozzarella, bake for another 10 minutes, take it out of the oven and enjoy.
Tip
The bread obtained with this recipe you can preserve it simply by putting it in plastic bags, it will remain perfect for at least 1 week. You can also freeze it.
